The gathering of 120 scholars in Lausanne, Switzerland on October 7th – 9th for the CSCL SIG Symposium 2004 has been the main event of the CSCL SIG, the largest SIG within Kaleidoscope. The meeting was a huge success from the scientific point of view, but also as a community building event.
Two invited talks, 29 papers and 6 workshops were part of the programme. More importantly, this conference served as a platform for networking multiple Kaleidoscope activities: the 6 workshops were related to other project or backbone activities in Kaleidoscope. In addition, more than 10 Kaleidoscope meetings occurred in parallel to the conference. Other JEIRP and ERT workshops were held on the 6th and 10th.
It can be concluded that this conference was a key event in the consolidation of the Kaleidoscope Network of Excellence.
